Possible mild hemi-: facial microsomia, a congenital malformation syndrome of unknown etiology, and now regarded as part of the facio-auriculo-vertebral spectrum--a collection of malformations of different organ systems that occur significantly more commonly together. The cause is usually unknown. If severe, hemifacial microsomia presents as one side of the face obviously smaller than the other, with plagiocephaly.
