NOT UNUSUAL: Anytime one starts a new exercise regimine, some aches and pains are to be expected. Start slowly, use ice afterwards, motrin, tylenol (acetaminophen) etc, stretch before and after, get some good sneakers and a custom pair of foot orthotics. If the pain continues, seek an orthopedic or podiatric exam.

Not uncommon: It's not uncommon to have some pain in the legs after starting a new exercise routine. Make sure you have a good pair of running shoes. If the pain warrants, rest or lower impact exercises combined with stretching and other modalities (nsaids, ice/heat, etc) will usually alleviate the symptoms. If the problem persists, i recommend an evaluation from a healthcare professional.
