Specifically,: it means that in a localized spot (focal) there is thickening. Some experts have suggested that thickening or hyperplasia (cell proliferation) may indicate the presence of cancer, but there is no agreement that this non-specific finding definitely indicates cancer. It can result from other reactions within the lymph node. The size of 4.4 mm is smaller than most lymph nodes involved by cancer.
