A member asked:

I've had a submandibular lymph node that measures 0.54x1.9x1.0 cm /cortical thickening measuring 5-6 mm for 1-1/2 years. no change in size. lymphoma?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Rare for submandibular lymph node to remain unchanged when over 1 cm. in size. It either continues to enlarge if pathology unresolved or regresses with healing of inflammatory process. We have seen enlarged cervical node remain and at bx 2-3 yrs. later, bx demonstrated low grade lymphoma. One might consider excisional bx, not aspiration which can be erroneous with lymphoma.
