Dry skin cracks: Drinking water is great for your entire body, but dry skin needs moisturizing with an ointment or cream that will occlude the surface and not allow water from inside the skin to escape and evaporate. If there is no infection on the skin, just applying petroleum jelly on a regular basis to cracked areas like heels helps a lot. Scrubbing or exfoliating dry areas make them more dry, unfortunately.

Skin Fissures: When dry skin cracks, it causes a tremendous amount of pain. Hands and feet are the most likely places for skin fissures to appear. Though cracking can occur anytime of the year, it is especially common during the dry winter months and in the summer when open shoes are worn. Use super glue to close skin fissures and reduce the amount of pain.
