Incidental finding: It is usually the after effects of something that occurred in the past and dilated the collecting system. For example, urinary reflux (where urine can backflowfrom the bladder into the ureter) can dilate the collecting system. It generally occurs in infancy or childhood, can in some cases cause no symptoms, and often resolves. Dilated collecting system can also be congenital)
