A member asked:

My wife has a chronic throat pain and inflammation which is not explained by reflux and all her blood tests come up normal. could she have an autoimmune disease which has gone undetected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Throat pain: Once the common things are excluded and symptoms persist, then one should consider less common causes of throat pain such as autoimmune diseases, achalasia, or ulcerations. Blood tests can only go so far, and endoscopy with possible biopsy may be needed to find an explanation.
