Very common: The stomach entrance is just behind & to the left of the heart. Periodic backwash of stomach acid routinely irritates the lower swallow tube & can trigger tightness or spasms. Reclining after meals, caffeine, nicotine, stress & many foods can aggravate this. Diet & behavior modification can help many as can acid reducer preparations.
