A member asked:

I went to the hospital because i was severe pain and i was told that i am passing a kidney stone. the doctor sent me home with medicine. my doctor said it take up to 48 to 72 hours of passing the stone is that true? i am a teacher so i am standing all day

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Partially true: It can take a week or more or you may not pass it. ..or it can pass while you're reading this.If the pain goes away for a few days,it probably passed. You may not see it because a stone may only be a few mm or it can break up like sanding be urinated out. If you are still having pain after 1 week, follow up with a urologist since you may need a procedure to remove the stone.
