Spironolactone: Several birth control meds may cause acne. Any birth control? Menstrual cycles normal? For adult women, antiandrogen is the most effective, easiest, least expensive approach. Daily oral dose of 25 to 200mg, usually 100mg. Will show clearing after 2-3 months, then maintain at same dose. Not if pregnant or in kidney failure.
