The periodontist just did 2 implants with healing cap. now, who does the removal of it to place the abutment (wrongly told abutment already attached)?

Prosthodontics dds: These implants can be restored with the abutments(stems) and crowns once these are solid to bone. Normally this is a four month time period starting when the implants placed in jawbone. It would have been good to coordinate the treatment with both doctors and offices. Good luck. Restorative Dentist: The restorative dentist (General Dentist or Prosthodontist) typically restores the implant fixture with an abutment and crown. I recommend that the surgeon (Periodontist or Oral Surgeon) work together as a team with the restorative dentist in planning and restoring missing teeth. How did you get to the Periodontist in the first place? Perhaps he\she can refer you to a restorative dentist.

Depends on your Drs.: Normally, the healing cap (cover screw) should be placed byt same surgeon who placed the implant, but Sometimes your surgeon, and sometimes your restorative dentist will place the abutment (crown post) , . Ultimately the crown restoration will be placed by your experienced general dentist or prosthodontist. /good luck.

Restorative Dentist: Once the implant is integrated you return to your dentist s/he will remove the healing cap or healing abutment.

Either one can: In the few instances that I have not placed the implant and a surgeon or periodontist did, I let them expose the implant (if buried) and place the healing abutment. In this way they evaluate the integration of the implant and the healing of the tissue. They placed the implant, their responsibility. The exposure is usually part if the implant fee.
