Not normal: one sided hand swelling and edema is not normal, did your mom had any surgery on that side on her breast or chest or under her arm before. that could explain it. if one of your mother job is a hair dresser, or a beautician, that could explain it as well, in general one sided edema or swelling is not normal, she needs to see a doctor.
