A member asked:

Do the arachnoid villi heal after a subarachnoid hemorrhage? or is hydrocephalus permanent? or is it unknown?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Points of interest: A subarachnoid hemorrhage is a not uncommon cause of normal pressure hydrocephalus, and has to do with deposition of debris affecting circulation of cerebral spinal fluid. Unfortunately, this is NOT a process which either heals spontaneously or reverses on its own, and a shunt may well be the best answer.
