Is applying a diluted solution of metronidazole beneficial to skin affected by bacteria induced boils?

Skin infection: Metronidazole solution is not effective against bacterial skin infections. Bacterial skin infections are most commonly caused by staph or strep. Even oral Metronidazole needs to be combined with other antibiotics to be effective against staph.

Don't think so.: Never heard of this. It may reduce bacterial counts on the skin surface, but so does soap. I do not see any benefit to it. It certainly won't help any infection under the skin.
