Yeast: It is common to have an yeast infection or rather overgrowth of yeasts in vagina after use of antibiotics, including metronidazole. If you have vaginal itching and irritation , cottage cheese-like discharge, it could be it. However, it can be another vaginal infection that you possibly were not tested for. Call you doctor and describe your symptoms.

Need pelvic exam: The most common complication after treatment for bacterial vaginosis is yeast infection. At first the symptoms appear very similar. A wet mount will be able to tell if you have yeast or recurrent BV. Sometimes it's possible to have BV recur if your partner is not treated as well, especially if he is uncircumcised or your partner is another female. 5 days is a relatively short course of treatment
