After 6 months: You can start giving water in a cup to babies after 6mts. Usually small amounts with meals to learn how to use a cup. I do not recommend fruit juices at all as they contain too much sugar and should be treated like soda or candy. Babies cannot have water prior to 6mts and should only drink breastmilk or infant formula with iron.

Of course : If you live in a community with an intact water supply. In most big communities they check the water every year and send a report. You should also note the fluoride concentration if any. It is good for growing teeth. Towns with fluoridated water supplies have had a 90% reduction in cavities since introduction. Of course, water has zero calories so it is good for hydration only.
