Bone is sharp: when broken (off), and a piece of free floating bone could potentially cut into the rectum or part of the intestine in that area. Having said that, it is not so easy to completely break (off) a piece of coccyx, or tailbone. Did the doc examine you? If s/he felt a piece freely moving, this is a way of being sure that you are safe, not meant to scare you. Good luck!
