Get treatment NOW : Even though you have eaten peanuts since childhood your symptoms can still be attributed to a late onset peanut allergy! Allergy can develop after prolonged repeated exposure to any antigen. You should go right away to urgent care or an emergency room for prompt treatment as the reactions seem significant. Swelling of throat and eyes can continue to get worse requiring injectable medications

Anaphylaxis?: It appeared that you had suffered shock from the peanut butter. Although most food allergies developed in childhood, they can also occur in adults. Before you touch peanuts again, be sure to get tested by an allergist. In the meanwhile, you need to carry an epineprhine autoinjector (preferably 2) with you until this issue has been clarified.
