Discuss w/ doctor: The Dr who ordered the test is the best one to discuss the results with. The test is good w/in a population of people already diagnosed w/ Crohn's but has a history of false positives, esp for folk on certain medications like Omeprazole. Call you Dr w/ questions.

NO: Fecal calprotectin is elevated in IBD, BUT it can also be elevated in: viral and bacterial enteritis(such as Salmonella, Shigella and C.diff),intestinal lymphoma, celiac disease, food allergy, immunodeficiency, juvenile polyps,NSAID treatment (excluding low dose aspirin circa 75mg), systemic malignancy, Septicemia, Cirrhosis of the liver. *Normal is <50-200 mcg/g SEE Comments below:
