Original question?: I do not know what your original question was, or who answered it. Infections are most often caused by viruses or bacteria. The latter may require antibiotics. Diagnosing someone over the computer is always second best to getting a clinical exam in person. I assume you were seen and examined, and it was determined your illness did not require an antibiotic.

Need more info but..: I don't know why a doctor here advised antibiotics, but i would trust the judgement of a doctor who got to talk to you in detail & examine you over the advice of someone who has never seen you & has very limited information. Antibiotics are powerful medicines with potential for serious side effects & are often prescribed unnecessarily! tell me why the doc here advised antibiotics for more advice!
