Not a good idea: Stop eating. Must drink water though. If you expend calories by vigorous exercise you will loose more. You will regain the weight very quickly again. If you are trying to loose to get by a threshold for a sports competition that may do it but you'll also feel lousy. Not a good idea!

Weight loss.: weight is lost when calories in are less than calories out. There is no magic pill or formula. You have to either eat less or expend more or a combination of both. A good exercise program and a diet high in protein and low in carbs seems to be the best choice.
