Why Neurology: The symptoms of weakness and others in the short history mean this may have been more than just the flu. The neurologist will do a full work up to make sure there is no brain or muscle and nerve damage.

Dr. A V answered

GBS: Your doctor wants you to be evaluated for guillen-barre syndrome, a condition that can occur several weeks after a viral illness. The body's nerves are attacked by the immune system and cause progressive weakness. This can be dangerous if it starts to affect the nerves that help with breathing. You should follow up with the neuro but if you rapidly worsen go to the er.
