A member asked:

Should i show courtesy by calling my periodontist who says "extractions" before i contact an endodontist without his knowledge on my own?

Your Call: You are certainly entitled to a second opinion without notifying the Periodontist. The Endodontist can keep things confidential. Mostly it is up to you and your relationship with the Periodontist. If you are unhappy with the recommendation for extractions, you can explain to the Perio that you are interested in another opinion. Usually being up front is the best if it is comfortable for you.

Get a second opinion: Regardless, if you call or not, always get a second opinions when discussing extractions of permanent teeth. Take care.
