It is normal for that tooth to be a little sore and sensitive that soon after a root canal. It should improve over the next few days.

You have just completed a surgical procedure that will place high demands on your body's ability to heal. Everyone's healing capacity differs from person to person. But it is not unreasonable to assume a healing period of 4-7 days. The key is to identify if the pain is getting better or worse. It should gradually improve day to day. If not, seek a follow up.

Tenderness to biting is considered normal and even should be expected. No need for concern. It would be wise to proceed with the core filing of not yet done, but perhaps delay the permanent crown until is feels right.
