Yes: Cloxacillin is in the penicillin family which is the first medicine recommend for Strep Throat. HOWEVER - if you just think you have strep throat and haven't been tested you may be using an antibiotic unnecessarily. Throat infections are annoying but the majority of them - even Strep - will self heal in about five days. If you are not too ill, you may want to try being patient, fluids, rest.
