My daughter gets strep throat every 2 months. they never run strep tests. could this be something else, like epstein barr. i have epstein barr. thanks?

If she is not being: tested for strep - it may not be strep. Sure - she could have mono. Mono and strep can be easily tested for. Take care.

Sore throat: If a culture is not done, you cannot call it a strep throat . If fact, your frequent sore throats may be due to viruses

Get test done: Every throat infection is not strep infection ,it may be other bacterial or viral infection usually .Children get4-5 throat infection in a year .Your daughter should be tested for throat infection and epstein barr , so her problem is solved .

Sloppy practice : Statistically the majority of sore throats in kids are viral, so I consider labeling a kid strep without a test is sloppy or poor medical practice. No kid needs to be exposed to antibiotics when unnecessary.I can do a simple strep test at the visit which is available in minutes.
