See doctor: Diagnosis and treatment of depression and bipolar illness can begin with a visit to a primary care provider or psychiatrist. Some medical problems can cause depressive symptoms, so it's a wise to have an examination and appropriate tests.

Depression: It would be a good idea to set up an evaluation with a psychologist who can give you a test and interview and give you a clear answer to your questions about whether you have a depressive disorder or not, what type, and discuss treatment options.
