I was prescribed prometrium (micronized progesterone) for pms during days 12-26 of cycle. cycle has now been 21 days. do i stop taking it once i start menstruation?

Conform instructions: Progesterone can be used to help prevent PMS although daily birth control pills is a more common and likely more effective option. Bleeding for 21 days is not normal. I would see your obgyn for a follow up visit and ask if you are candidate for a 24/4 birth control pill for PMS and cycle control.
