Pancreatic stent placement scheduled for sept. 10th. how long is a stent supposed to be left in so that other problems are not created? weeks or mths.

It depends: On the type of stent being placed and why the stent is being placed. Plastic stents need to be replaced sooner than metal stents due to becoming blocked off(occluded). Usually a plastic stent can be left in up to 3 months or so, metal even longer.
