Mono...: …is usually caused by the Epstein Barr virus or CMV (cytomegalovirus). The initial infection typically only lasts for 2-3 weeks but the fatigue and some other symptoms can last for many months afterward and are mainly caused by the immune system’s reaction to the virus itself.
