Mono...: …is usually caused by the Epstein Barr virus or CMV (cytomegalovirus). The initial infection typically only lasts for 2-3 weeks but the fatigue and some other symptoms can last for many months afterward and are mainly caused by the immune system’s reaction to the virus itself. If you have symptoms that are prolonged it is best to se your doctor for evaluation. Good luck!
