Hand eczema: Hand eczema can be related to irritants such as dish washing liquid, too much exposure to water, contact dermatitis of hand, sometimes even fungal infection - tinea. Rarely hepatitis C infection causes porphyria cutanea tarda- not sure if he has this. Suggest evaluation by a dermatologist, keeping hands away from water and irritants, treating hand with an absorbent dressing to prevent maceration.
