Unusual combination: Amoxicillin usually isn't the best antibiotic for skin infections. The main skin infection bacteria often is staph, which doesn't repond to amoxicillin -- but might respond to doxycline. Maybe all you really need is to temporarily increase the dose of doxy; or to add a drug active against staph, like sulfa-trimethoprim, Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) or clindamycin. Discuss with your doctor.

Get explanation: It is well-documented that doxy’s drug class interferes with amoxicillin’s and lower’s amoxicillin’s efficacy. If the same doctor prescribed both, you may want an explanation about why he or she is not concerned about the usual interference, and if s/he did not, make him/her aware that you are taking doxy for malaria prophylaxis. If s/he does not give you a good explanation, get a second opinion.
