My son has a painful bumb on the inside of his eyelid. i believe it's a stye, i found gentamicin in my medicine cabinet it has not expired yet can i u?

Ophthalmic drops ok: Perhaps 1 in 200 people have a pharmacogenetic mutation which causes severe sensitivity to all the aminoglycosides, including gentamicin--but only if given IV or orally--and these people are at high risk of ototoxicity resulting in deafness. Still, ask your pcp if it is ok, and check expiration date.
