Coronary plaque: Plaque can start at young ages. It is usually not obstructive until middle age however, but that isn't an absolute rule. It is prudent to have a good diet and exercise program starting in childhood to help minimize your chances of obstructive plaque. For some people medications are needed to control their lipids and vascular inflammation caused by atherosclerotic processes.
