Yes: Physical therapy is absolutely a useful tool for managing pain, given that you are cleared for it by a physician knowing the extent of your spine problems. I would discuss your hesitance to take medications to your doctor, and if they won't respect your perspective, get a second opinion. That said, many pain medications can be used safely without fear of addiction.
