Yes: Heart rates vary under different circumstances, going slower when one is calm or sleeping, and faster under stress, anemia, fever, or when one is fighting an infection. These are normal bodily responses, and as long as EKG only shows fast heart rate there is nothing to be concerned about. The heart is not the issue- just responding. The underlying cause needs to be addressed.
