I'm taking one 25 mg tablet of hydroxyzine for itching rash daily before bed. would like to take a 5mg tablet of valium this afternoon. would this be ok?

Likely ok but: you will likely have additive sedation effect from both drugs. Note that there is a recent warning on cardiovascular effect from hydroxyzine and that neither drug provides normal sleep.
