Yes you can: That's a rather strange combination of hot and dry weather, usually cold and dry, at any rate, make sure the humidifier doesn't build up mold, frequent cleaning and maintenance are important

Humidifier yes : Humidification as well as oral fluids can loosen nasal secretions which may help certain cough. A fan will not help.
