Concerning...: Vibration-controlled transient elastography is a newer technology used to assess likelihood of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. One measurement is not confirmatory as there are operator/patient-related factors that are not perfectly reproducible from scan to scan. 17.5 suggests significant stiffness, significant possibility of cirrhosis, and, I would estimate, over 50% compromise of liver function:(
