A member asked:

My 1 month baby has oral thrush. i rather not give her nystatin if possible. but can this harm her and will it resolve on its own?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: For many infants, mild thrush produces no significant problems and may vary in intensity over time. You never eliminate the germ of thrush from the body, and it is one of the normal germs of the digestive system. Some infants may develop bleeding oral skin from the germ and obvious pain.Nystatin is an innocuous med with no significant side effects.I wouldn't fear it,ever.
