Yes, but . . .: Check out http://www.drugs.com/nexium.html which states that Nexium (esomeprazole) is best taken at least an hour before a meal. But the fact is you only take one a day, not before every meal, so if you feel you need it, then take it (assuming it's been a few hrs since you ate). Beware of potential complications from taking more than 8wks. Another option is to try calcium carbonate eg Tums/Rolaids
