A member asked:

Once i have acid reflux i need to take nexium (esomeprazole) for.how many days or until the symptom goes off?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

1-4 days to benefit: PPI's differ as to duration of action, side effects, tolerance, cost/insurance coverage. All PPI's are equally efficacious, so what options exist after you complete your course of esomeprazole depends on your therapeutic response (e.g. symptom resolution, persistence, recurrence?) as well as the cause of your gastritis (e.g. if H.pylori was found, has it been treated to eradication?)
