A member asked:

Had a 2 vessel umbilical cord when i was pregnant with my daughter. what are the chances of having a 2vessel umbilical cord again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: on the reason for the single umbilical artery, Most likely if your first child was normal and there are no known birth defects the risk of recurrence is low to none as the single vessel occurred as a result of abnormal positioning of the second artery. If the condition was associated with significant birth defects or chromosomal anomalies, the recurrence risk would be that of the causative condition
