HIV oral fluids test: ...is not quite conclusive at 4.5 weeks, probably about 90% reliable. Most current (3rd generation) HIV blood tests, including the rapid ones, are conclusive by 6-8 wk after exposure, 4th gen at 4 wk. Previous advice about waiting 3 months is pretty much outmoded. However, the oral fluids test sometimes takes longer. It's the one test that probably is not conclusive until 3 months.
