A member asked:

My sister had a cold sore that she said wasn't on her lip but right above it, which to me appeared to be scabbed over. we shared cigarettes over the weekend and now my upper lip is tingling..should i be concerned?

Cold sores: are caused by the herpes virus and can be transmitted via saliva. Usually the lesions are less or not at all contagious when scabbed over. Tingling may be a sign you are developing a "sore" but you can`t be certain until you see the lesion. Cold sores can be treated with ointment and oral medication for more severe cases.
