May improve but: you may but after 9 years will depend on exercise, neurology medications. Nerve damage causes muscle loss and medications such as gabapentin and pregabulin

Injury?: Was this the result of an injury and if so what type? While some common perineal nerve injuries can heal depending on the initiating scenario. However, after this length of time this may be permanent. For patients with foot drop a special brace is considered to assist with gait.
