Yes: Prednisone can definitely cause fluid retention which tends to build up in the lower extremities. I would recommend having this evaluated immediately by your physician due to the other less likely possibility of blood clots causing obstruction of the veins in your legs. If their are no clots -- compression stockings may help with the swelling along with medicine to reduce the fluid retention.
