A pox: The chicken pox are contageous until all the lesions are crusted over. The virus is airborne and easily spreads. If you have not had the disease you should have a titer to check your immunity. If you are not immune you need to be vaccinated.

Low risk: Studies show 95% of adults who think they never had Cpx have blood evidence of prior infection.That said, The kid was contageous from the day before the first spots until they all dry, or a week, whichever is later.You might consider either being tested for immunity or having the vaccine.Cpx is truly nasty in adults.
