Final records: Upon completion of treatment, the braces will be removed and post-treatment models, x-rays, and photos and models are completed. Retainers are then made to hold the teeth in place. Hawley retainer is not an exception. If you need an additional Hawley retainer, no x-rays are required.

Radiograhs: A radiograph is not part of the actual manufacturing process. It is however, part of the patient's medical records and as such is needed to evaluate the condition of the teeth before the retainer is fabricated.

Sometimes: If Dentist or Orthodontist is planning minor tooth position adjustment with removable appliance, diagnostic x-rays may be required. If braces or aligner treatment has recently been completed, post-treatment baseline x-rays may be taken at same time as retainer construction. If Dentist or Orthodontist needs additional information about tooth roots, positions, or supporting bone, x-rays needed.
