Yes. The first: SSRI, Prozac, came out around 1986 and was thought to be a good alternative to the older antidepressants (Tricyclics), which had terrible reputations about adding extra pounds. However, lots of people on Prozac gained weight, too, prompting the development of other SSRI's (next came Zoloft, (sertraline) and so on).
